THE RIP CURL CORAL GUARD PROGRAM: "To Surf and Preserve"

During Summer 2006, Rip Curl took a major step forward, by teaming up with WWF. This initiative called Coral Guard focuses on the WWF's programmes to preserve coral reefs and set up Marine Protected Areas in the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

This is a 'natural' commitment for Rip Curl, the coral reefs are precious ecosystems thriving with fauna and flora and the natural barriers that gererate our waves. Beside a strong financial support Rip Curl wishes to produce media content which mix surf and environmental awareness, to be diffused on TV, web and in the written press.

ORGANIC COTTON?

Cotton is usually seen as natural and therefore eco-friendly. The reality is not that green ! Though cotton is a natural fibre, its farming is one of the most polluting on Earth. 24% of all insecticides and 11% of all pesticides used in the world go on cotton, for not even 3% of the global cultivated land.

That is 17 teaspoons of chemicals for each T-Shirt. Harmful to farmers they pollute soils rivers and oceans. Grown without chemicals, organic cotton is anallergic, softer on the skin and on the planet. Support Rip Curl's organic initiative, go organic!
